Our Manifesto
Hairdressing is far more than a cut or a treatment. It is a space of trust, representation, wellbeing and connection. And yet, even today in France, not every head of hair is welcomed in the same way.
So many people with coily, curly or wavy hair still come up against refusals, a lack of training and an absence of representation, as if their hair had simply not been “planned for”.
At Les Ateliers Crépus, we reject this silent norm.
We stand for inclusive, open and joyful hairdressing, where everyone is welcomed, respected and valued, whatever their hair texture.
Here is what we stand for, in concrete terms.
Here is our manifesto.
01
That every hairdresser be trained and assessed on every hair texture, starting with the CAP hairdressing diploma.
Giving hairdressers these skills would let them practise their craft to the full and satisfy every client.
02
That everyone can walk through the doors of a hair salon with complete confidence.
An end to the routine refusals faced by those whose hair is not straight.
03
That coily hair takes its place in the spotlight: in film, on the red carpet, on the runway.
Representation matters. Showing these textures in the media lets everyone who recognises themselves feel beautiful, just as they are.
04
Restoring afro hairdressing to its rightful standing, and letting great hairdressers emerge on the international stage.
No more “hairdressers for Black people” and “hairdressers for white people”, only professionals trained on every texture and able to carry their expertise across the world.
05
That no one ever has to hide their hair to go to work or to school.
This is hair like any other, and it should never be seen as a problem, whether by employers or by schools. Coily, wavy and curly hair is beautiful and professional, especially when it can be cared for and enhanced by a trained professional.
06
IN SHORT, that everyone can
go to the same hairdresser!
So that your friend, your daughter, your brother, your mum and you can all be pampered and share a moment of wellbeing together.
The movement
Join the thousand heads of coily hair
Every head of coily hair counts, yours included. This movement grows thanks to the women who choose to make their voices heard.
What if you joined the thousand heads of coily hair too?
